Because knitting provides a small amount of sanity for me in a very insane world...

My friend A- and I knit matching ponchos for our young friends M- and C-, who turned three and one respectively. They were each two simple garter stitch rectangles, with fringe, from The Knitting Experience: The Knit Stitch We used Knitpick's Suri Dream, a beautiful fuzzy alpaca bleng, in Lilac Heather for M- and Twilight Heather for C- (what my love calls girl power colors.) They went over very well, I heard, though I had to miss the birthday party.

I've knit one sock for Mr. FP in a bright self-striping yarn. He loves it. Im ust hurry with the other. I'm using the pattern from The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns

Started a lace shawl with worsted-weight (rose) that my sister spun for me. It's a shetland-style shawl from Folk Shawls by Cheryl Oberle. I really like the fingering-weight lace shawls, but it would take me a million years to knit one, so I'm holding off. This one is probably still the most ambitious project I've done to date.

Bought yarn, cotton mercerized in rainbow sherbet colors, for a baby hat. I thought it was from Plymouth Yarns, but now I can't find anything cotton on their website. I'm planning on knitting the Umbilical Cord Hat from the original Stitch 'N' Bitch.

[Edited for more exact yarn and pattern details.]
