Welcome to a Quite Nearly Perfect sapphireone-book

The New Policemanby Kate Thompson In a small village in Ireland, time is going by a whole lot faster than it used to. The young teenaged J.J. Liddy has always played traditional music with his family for the ceileidhs they put on. But nowadays there isn’t time to practice – even the school buses are running late. When his mother asks for more time for her birthday, J.J. sets out to find it for her. He discovers that time is leaking into Tir na n’Og, with even more disastrous results. Along the way, he learns more about Irish music and his family’s connection to it. It reminded me of Michael Ende’s Momo, for obvious reasons, but this focuses more on the adventure and is much less allegorical. A pure delight for musicians, The New Policeman’s short chapters are followed by traditional tunes with titles related to the events of the chapter. I really hope an audio version including the tunes comes out.
