Hmm... it's definitely a romance novel first and fantasy second. It follows the prescribed romance plot outline, though I don't think that writing in form makes it a bad book, y'know? She used a few trite descriptions, and I got a little irritated at her taking two or three chapters of hinting to reveal that the heroine's hair is red. What bothered me most was that I bought into the characters at the beginning, and then didn't feel that their relationship grew convincingly, so that by the end I cared less about them than at the beginning. With the great reviews for the most recent one, and people on Amazon saying that this wasn't her best effort, I guess I'm really mostly intrigued enough to try another one. With just a little more, it would be really fun.
