May I suggest that you ask your local Unitarian minister, who was a lovely fellow, if he has any reading suggestions, or knows any families you might talk to or group meetings you might attend? It's a common situation for Unitarian families to have parents who identify their own faith practices quite differently.
(I do know that both of you are happy with your faith-practices as they stand, and I would never dream of suggesting that you sould alter them -- I just know that Unitarian communities often have ongoing dialogue about issues just such as this one, so I am thinking of this as a resource, not prostelyization, I swear!!)
